Lightning get first APFL victory over Warriors!

Jesse Jones told Lightning coaches that he could,"do it" at linebacker in the red zone and he did it at the most important time of tonight's game versus the Cheyenne Warriors. The 6'3" 230 lb WR who was used at LB in short yardage situations, made a heroic, touchdown saving, victory sealing tackle on the goal line with 3.2 seconds remaining to lift the Colorado Lightning to its first ever victory 30-28in Cheyenne. The victory cam before a packed house. The Lightning stormed back from an 18-8 first half deficit to reduce the lead to 18-14 at the half. The teams exchange scores and momentum throughout the second half. The game ultimately came down to the Jones tackle on 4th and goal. Cheyenne could have opted to kick the field goal to take the lead with :22 remaining but chose instead to attempt to punch it in and win with a touchdown. They had a full compliment of timeouts but elected not to use them. The decision proved to be the wrong one as it lead to a Lightning victory.

Exciting news from the APFL

Topeka, KS -- The Council Bluffs Express have formerly submitted a contract offer to retired NFL Quarterback Brett Favre. The indoor professional football team hopes the “gunslinger” can be ready to play by Opening Night on March 31 when they travel to Tulsa to take on the Oklahoma Defenders. The team’s home opener is on Saturday April 14th at 7:05 p.m. vs the Cheyenne Warriors.

The Express were formerly known as the Iowa Blackhawks. The team was purchased recently by local businessmen Brad Lindgren and Joe Riker. Upon the completion of the sale, the pair changed the moniker and removed “Iowa” and replaced it with “Council Bluffs”. They changed the colors from black and gold and replaced it with blue and orange.

The Express play their home games at the Mid-America Center located along Casino Row on the south side of town and on the eastern banks of the Missouri River across the bridge from Omaha, Neb.

“I understand that Brett has had some health issues that forced his retirement from the NFL,” said Lindgren. “Because the QB position has to make quick reads and throws in our league, he won’t be susceptible to hits like he did at the outdoor game. He might be able to play for another 20 years.”

Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

"The most complete fitness training studio in Colorado Springs."
It was once said that Jesse Jones has a professional Football resume that resembles a doctor’s eye chart. The former Southern California 2 sport standout has definitely seen his share of leagues from the PIFL, IPFL, SFL, XFL-Draftee, AF2, AFL, NIFL and after a short time away from the game he loves, he is back to play in the APFL with the Colorado Lightning.
As a husband and father of 3, Jesse is also a man of many talents as he plays the role of business owner/personal trainer, course instructor, student mentor, empowerment (motivational) speaker, as well as serving on the advisory board and active fitness consultant for Intellitec Medical Institute of Colorado Springs. His day to day duties sees him training clients about 7-9 appointments per day, and his clientele covers a wide range from athletes of all ages, to moms and dads, baby boomers and the disabled. He is certified through the National Exercise & Sports Trainer Association (NESTA) as well as The National Council on Strength and Fitness (NCSF) of which he also instructs the personal trainer certification course. Jesse Jones loves the lord and in his spare time he loves to hang out with his family, read, cook and play games.
Jesse believes that the truest essence of athletic principals and ethics are synonymous with all aspects of life itself. He is also a walking testament of his favorite bible scripture, Proverbs 23:7 “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he”…and this God given verse is to provide positive reinforcement and strength to those who struggle against the negative words of others that result in the lack of self confidence. He also takes an extremely violent stance against the words “can’t” and “try” leading to the coined phrase “We Don’t Can’t” which he proudly wears along with the Phenom 1 Phitness logo on his company apparel. His goal is to eventually replace his fitness career as a full time empowerment speaker specializing in fitness and the power of a positive purpose. Lastly, in Jesse Jones’ own words….”Define yourself thoroughly, leaving no room for the false definitions of others”
